چکیده
A 9-year old prepubertal girl, gave a history of peri odic changes in behaviour of 16 months' duration. The parents described the changes in behaviour as follows. She becomes less communicative and less interactive with others and clinging to the mother. Vomiting or retching, poor food intake, disturbed sleep pattern, and sometimes feelings of fearfulness were other features. She was unable to give a descriptive account of her fears but referred to something or someone frightening her. Presence of abnor mal visual or auditory perceptual experiences could not be established. She refused to go to school, play or engage in any of her usual recreational activities during these epi sodes. The periodic changes were regular with each epi sode lasting 10 to 11 days and recurring at 13 to 14 day intervals. At the two ends of each episode, the change of behaviour was usually confined to only part of the day.

CONTROL OF CHAOS IN A DRIVEN NON LINEAR DYNAMICAL SYSTEM
We present a numerical study of a one-dimensional version of the Burridge-Knopoff model [16] of N-site chain of spring-blocks with stick-slip dynamics. Our numerical analysis and computer simulations lead to a set of different results corresponding to different boundary conditions. It is shown that we can convert a chaotic behaviour system to a highly ordered and periodic behaviour by making on...

Pseudohypoparathyroidism due to deficient end organ response to parathyroid hormone (PTH) is characterized by hypocalcemia, hyperphosphatemia and increased serum PTH. We report a case of an 8-year-old girl with pseudohypoparathyroidism without features of Albright's hereditary osteodystrophy. The case is of interest as the child on serial follow-up over a period of 2 years developed hypothyroid...

A 13 year old Asian girl presenting with apparent hysterical paralysis and subsequent rapid cycling bipolar mood disorder was found to have biochemical evidence of pseudohypoparathyroidism type II. The mood disorder responded to treatment of the pseudohypoparathyroidism with a vitamin D analogue. Investigation of her parents and siblings showed phenotypes consistent with two distinct types of p...

An adult woman with pseudopseudohypoparathyroidism had a child with normal calcium and parathyroid hormone concentrations and cyclic AMP response to injected parathyroid hormone in infancy. By 2.5 years he had features of pseudohypoparathyroidism with raised parathyroid hormone and 'flat' cyclic AMP response. This is the first documented case of a change in parathyroid hormone responsiveness. T...

Secondary hyperparathyroidism in pseudohypoparathyroidism was suggested by Kolb (1962) based mainly on bone X-ray findings characteristic to parathyroid hyperfunction such as subperiosteal resorption and osteitis fibrosa. We have recently experienced a case of typical pseudohypoparathyroidism in which the parathyroid hormone-like calcium-mobilizing activity in urine was increased, although bone...
